Tooting Common Main Pond

Doctor Johnson Avenue, Tooting, SW17 8, London, United Kingdom

The lakes on Tooting Bec Common are easy to access and like the other London common lakes, they are shallow, relatively low on features but do hold decent Carp for those willing to put the effort in.Fishing is quite common on the main lake and there are proper pegs in place, which is quite uncommon for most park lakes. The lakes vegetation is well managed and there are good overhangs to provide some features for the fish to congregate in.Tactics:Standard lake tactics such as fishing the waggler work well here, many of the pegs are relatively featureless, but float fishing and trickling in the a few samples of bait will get the fish. Legering a nice worm will often produce a decent Perch or Bream.Baits:Floating baits in summer will produce some Carp, but you can have a lot of problems with ducks fishing this. Small pellets, maggots and sweetcorn should keep the bites coming with worm producing some nice Perch.
