Izaak Walton Fishery has 3 pools plus a competition canal and contains course fish. This tranquil setting makes the fishery extremely popular with both the day and match angler. It is 2 miles from Eccleshall and 4 miles from junction 14 of the M6. The fishery takes its name from the famous angler and author of the "Compleat Angler". Izaak Walton was born in Stafford in 1653 and lived in a cottage less than a mile away. It is said that Izaak Walton used to fish the river Sow that runs through the fishery. The fishery is approached across its own land via a drive of 450m. Directly ahead are three of the four pools, with the canal pool to the West. The large hardcore car park will accommodate in excess of 100 vehicles. Izaak Walton fishery is mindful of the disabled angler and has created easy access to the toilet facilities and purpose built pegs. There is provision for the disabled angler with larger, secure pegs. The "Log cabin" has a toilet which has been constructed with the disabled angler in mind with ramps and specially adapted toilet facilities.
