This stretch of the River Medway is not just a barbel river, but offers excellent general coarse fishing. You will find chub, perch, pike, roach, dace, grayling, carp and even brown trout. Most of the barbel are caught from the big pools, although some can be caught from the fast runs . Best baits include meat, boilies, paste, pellets or maggots. The chub fishing on offer is good too, with average sizes around 3lb. Either roam from swim to swim or concentrate on one swim biulding it up with swimfeedered maggots. Roach and dace are not present in the numbers they once were, although they can still be caught trotting maggots or bread, while the grayling can be found in the shallow runs.
