Small, but perfectly formed, this little one and a half acre tarn can be found some fifteen minutes off the Skelwith Bridge to Coniston Road alongside the footpath to Tarn Hows.
WADAA used to stock this fishery but have now left it entirely to the stock of smallish, wild brownies - with the odd larger fish still prowling the deeper holes.
The tarn is heavily weeded and impossible to fish with anything other than floating line but the fish are willing, free rising and feisty - making High Arnside a delightful place for an hour or two with light tackle or as a secluded retreat on a warm summer evening.
