Tinkers Pond lies just on the outskirts of Barnsley still within the city limits. There are two waters to choose from, known as top and bottom ponds. The top pond is close to good parking, and the pegs offer hard standing with specially designed pegs for wheel chair anglers.
The disabled pegs are indicative of the work that the club has put into these waters over the years. Until recently the ponds were stocked massively with tench to the exclusion of most other fish. This made the spring and summer sessions exceptional, but the colder months were often a little barren. The tench were thinned out and carp and silver fish introduced.
