Drakeland Fishery, Hemerdon

Galva Road, Plymouth, PL7 5BS, Devon, United Kingdom

This small fishery is on the South West border of the Dartmoor National Park.
Tree lined on one side, a small stream feeds the lake and there are often fish to be found in the flow from the inlet.
The deeper water is in front of the dam, where the fish can often be found by using a sinking line and pulled lures, especially in conditions of very bright light and during the winter, when the fish seek the more stable conditions of the deep water. When times are tough a booby works well in this area.
In such rural surroundings there is a profusion of terrestrial flylife particularly in the evenings, when small dark dry flies such as the black gnat, hoppers and daddies can give some real fun fishing.
