The lakes are historic Estate Lakes, which are not simply potholes in the ground, and they are rich with natural food. It is renowned for being one of Wales' most heavily stocked lakes. The lakes are home to a variety of species, including Carp exceeding 20 pounds, Chub, Barbel, and many more. The lake record is 27 pounds. The lakes are placed in a serene and pleasant environment, surrounded by old woods.
