The biggest problem with this lake, which spans about 3½ acres, is the fact that it is a shared venue with the local boating club. As such on weekends and early evening the water gets very busy with sailboats, and the motor launch, which tries it utmost to create a tidal wave.
There is easy access to all pegs, with a tarmacadam path leading round the whole of the tarn. This also causes the problem of walkers and at the weekend the nosey kids with the proverbial "Urgh look at those maggots" and the old favourite of "have you caught owt mister". With the water being set within easy access of Yeadon, coupled with the low day ticket price, the water tends to get busy with school kids during the holidays.
The lake is stocked with a good head of bream and carp mainly up to 5lb, with the odd bigger ones pulled out every now and again. Carp are present to over 20lbs in the water, roach and perch being the back up species. Big nets of bream are also possiblity on a good day to the right tactics. The lake is fairly shallow and tends to fish a lot better when the weather gets hot. Match weights approach almost 35lb in the evening matches on a good day with good back up weights also over 20lb.
The main tactic on this lake tends to be concentrated on catching on the bottom, with quiver or swingtips being the order of the day. This in the main is to combat the boats, although bits can be caught close in using a float.
Info from Neil.
Fishing from whenever you get there until dusk - no night fishing. Barbless hooks only, and restrictions as per all the Leeds City council waters on shot sizes. Poles must not be put across any of the paths, very sensible really as they would get smashed by bikers or walkers. One rod only at any one time, although others can be made ready for use.
